Cherry "Ice Cream"
Ingredients:
1-1.5 cups frozen cherries
1 unfrozen banana
chocolate chips (optional)
Directions:
Pit a bag of cherries and put them in the freezer. Let freeze overnight.
Dump frozen cherries into a food processor and mix until the cherries are broken up into little pieces.
Once you get to this consistency, you should not hear any loud noises coming from your food processor. If you do, it means your super awesome cherry pitter helper accidentally left some cherry pits in (side eye to B). Find the pit(s) because you definitely don't want to break your food processor, or worse, eat it. If you don't hear any loud noises, add the banana (broken up into 3 pieces) into the food processor.
Mix until the banana is broken down and it resembles ice cream. Scoop your ice cream into your designated ice cream dish. Add chocolate chips if you want and then you'll have basically Cherry Garcia, minus 1,500 calories
Notes:
If you are allergic or just don't like bananas (crazy) then maybe try adding a peeled pear. I have actually never tried this, so I can't attest to it, but pears are pretty sweet and have a soft texture, so it should be pretty similar to the banana. You can't really skip the banana (or pear) step, because the cherries won't get creamy and you'll have cherry ice. Which might be good. But is not cherry ice cream.

Yum (... is that one of the words you hate?). I make this style of "ice cream" with frozen strawberries and a handful of blueberries with the banana. It's awesome.
ReplyDelete:) it doesn't bother me as much as yummy does.
DeleteThat sounds really good too!! So far, cherry and banana are my favorite flavors, but I usually make smoothies in the morning with strawberries and blueberries.
This sounds and awesome! And it looks even better!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd make it with the pear.
Also, where can I get that ice cream dish, or glass or whatever it is, because I have got to have it. Or maybe you could send me some ;)
Oooh okay, let me know how it turns out with the pear!!
DeleteHahah I can totally send you some! It's this bar near us where if you order their signature "Fire Chiefs" you get to keep the glass. We have way too many....
OH...MY...GOD!!! I cannot do this fast enough.I"m so excited! (and I don't get excited to make/cook anything)It sounds SO good.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm so glad you didn't name it "nice cream"!! :)
Yay!! I hope you love it!
DeleteRight?! Isn't that just wrong sounding? :)
Awesome! I wonder if this would work with peaches and a banana.
ReplyDeleteI bet!! That sounds really good actually, I love peach ice cream! Let me know if you try it!
DeleteYum! I've done this with frozen pineapple and added young coconut instead of banana and it was totally good, too.
ReplyDeleteI have made this one-ingredient ice cream before (better name than nice cream but still not great) but haven't for a long time. Thanks for the reminder!
I bet that would be really good! I like pineapple, and coconut would go well with it. I'm not a huge coconut fan, but fresh coconut is way better than dried coconut. I bet it would be really creamy and good!
DeleteOf course! :)
whoa! even though it's 30 degrees out, i want this right this very second :)
ReplyDeleteI love ice cream when it's cold! Make it! :)
